Located in the center of the Adriatic, thanks to its particular "elbow" position, it is the only city on the coast from which it is possible to admire both the sunrise and the sunset over the sea. The elbow means in greek "Ankon" from which the Doric city took its name. Ancona was a protagonist in the ancient age of cultural exchanges and traffic by sea with Picenes, Etruscan and Greeks. This city is a real open-air museum, where every corner tells its long history. The Arch of Trajan is the door that leads to the ancient city, passing in front of the Roman walls of the port you reach the Piazza del Senato. A few steps away is the Cathedral of San Ciriaco which overlooks the sea from above.
